Spin transition in the half-filled Landau level.

چکیده
The transition from partial to complete spin polarization of two-dimensional electrons at half filling of the lowest Landau level has been studied using resistively detected nuclear magnetic resonance (RDNMR). The nuclear spin-lattice relaxation time is observed to be density independent in the partially polarized phase but to increase sharply at the transition to full polarization. At low temperatures the RDNMR signal exhibits a strong maximum near the critical density.

Quantum Phases in Partially Filled Landau Levels
We compare the energies of different electron solids, such as bubble crystals with triangular and square symmetry and stripe phases, to those of correlated quantum liquids in partially filled intermediate Landau levels. Multiple transitions between these phases when varying the filling of the top-most partially filled Landau level explain the observed reentrance of the integer quantum Hall effe...
متن کاملTheory of Striped Hall Ferromagnets
We study spin and charge striped states at the half-filled high Landau level in the zero Zeeman energy limit using a HartreeFock approximation. It is shown that a ferromagnetic striped Hall state is more stable than the antiferromagnetic striped state or charge striped state. We calculate the collective excitations using the single mode approximation.
متن کاملInteraction and magnetic moment of the electron in quantum Hall effect
We introduce ŝ.n̂ where n̂ = ~r/|~r| which along with the velocity forms a spin-orbit interaction of the order of v/c whereas the usual spin-orbit interaction is of the order of v/c. The effective fractional charges obtained from this interaction are in good agreement with the experimental data of quantum Hall effect. The energy of the system diverges as l → ∞ indicating that there is a phase tra...
متن کاملInvestigation of Temperature Effect in Landau-Zener Avoided Crossing
Considering a temperature dependent two-level quantum system, we have numerically solved the Landau-Zener transition problem. The method includes the incorporation of temperature effect as a thermal noise added Schrödinger equation for the construction of the Hamiltonian. Here, the obtained results which describe the changes in the system including the quantum states and the transition pro...
متن کاملPaired and Stripe States in the Quantum Hall System
In recent experiments, highly anisotropic states are observed in the half-filled third and higher Landau levels[1]. In the half-filled second Landau level the fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE)[2] and transition to the highly anisotropic state are observed[3]. Theoretically the anisotropic states are regarded as stripe states[4] or unidirectional charge density wave states which are plausibl...
